Event: Albion College Orchestra Brings Classical Favorites to Marshall
Date: Tuesday, April 22nd, 2014
Time: 8:00 PM
Organization: Albion College
Cost: $18 per person
Description: With favorite composers and
award-winning guest artists,
the Albion College Symphony
Orchestra makes its Marshall
debut Tuesday, April 22 at 8
p.m. at the Franke Center for
the Arts (214 E. Mansion in
Marshall).

Featured on the concert is
cellist Igor Cetkovic,
performing "Variations on a
Rococco Theme" by Tchaikovsky.
Cetkovic was principal cellist
of the Serbian Chamber
Orchestra in his homeland and
is current principal cellist
with the West Michigan
Symphony. He also plays with
the Kalamazoo Symphony and
performs as a soloist and
master clinician with
ensembles and music schools
throughout the Midwest. He is
cello instructor for Dynamics
Music School in Lansing and at
Albion College.

Also featured is Albion
College music and biology
major Rebecca Ruthberg, winner
of the 2014 Albion College
Concerto Competition. Ruthberg
will perform Haydn's Concerto
for Trumpet and Orchestra.
Rounding out the evening are
Mozart's Overture to The
Marriage of Figaro and
Beethoven's Symphony #2 in D
Major.

Albion College's Symphony
Orchestra is directed by music
professor James Ball, and
includes Albion College
students, Marshall High School
students and community members
from through south central
Michigan.

"Playing in Marshall is one
way to get the word out to
musicians who might be
interested in joining us,"
said Ball. "We now have people
from as far away as Kalamazoo,
Lansing and Jackson. Our
community members have really
helped to stabilize the
orchestra musically while at
the same time giving our
students a better, more
professional musical
experience."
