Description: Homer Historical Societyâ??s 14th annual
Car, truck and peddle bike show

HOMERâ??The Homer Historical Society car show will be held Sunday, July 27 at Blair Historical Farm. The show features all makes, models and years of cars, trucks, and vintage peddle bicycles. This is the non-profit organizationâ??s fourteenth annual car show and the Homer Historical Societyâ??s 40 anniversary.

Blair Historical Farm is one-mile east of Homer at 26441 M-60 East. Car show registration will be from 9 a.m. until noon with a $10 registration fee for each vehicle. Admission is free for spectators not showing a vehicle.

Goodie bags will be given to the first 50 entries, and dash plaques will be given to the first 100. Trophies for the top 20 cars, Best of Show, and two vintage bicycles will be presented at 3 p.m.

There will be 50/50 drawings, oldies music with a professional DJ, and a food booth. Craft show and swap meet merchants are welcome.

In addition to seeing a fine array of cars, trucks and bicycles, people will be able to see some of the many historical restoration projects that have been undertaken since the historical society was founded in 1974 as a one of Homerâ??s efforts to celebrate the nationâ??s bicentennial.

The historic Blair family farmhouse will be open along with the old Albion Town Hall that was moved to the site in 2006 and the Detroit, Toledo & Milwaukee Rail Roadâ??s Grover depot that was moved there in 2008 and restored over the next few years.

Proceeds from the car show will help support ongoing restoration work at the farm and other Homer Historical Society projects including plans for a new 40-foot by 64-foot barn to house donations of large farm equipment including the Birdsell clover huller recently donated by John Pardee of Concord. This, and other equipment at the farm, was used in the late 1800s and early 1900s when Blair Historical Farm was owned and operated by the Blair family. Dr. George W. Blair came to the area in 1836 and obtained the farm property in 1851. It was owned by the Blair family until his granddaughter Maude Blair donated it to the Homer Historical Society in 1974, shortly after it was founded.
