Description: The sixth annual Piano Progressive fundraising concert begins this year on Saturday, September 27, 2014. As always, the first leg of the concert will begin at Goodrich Chapel at 5:00 p.m.
This year our fabulous hosts are: Tamara Crupi at Goodrich Chapel, Susan and Ron Conner, the Albion Heritage Bed and Breakfast owned by Dick Lewin and Mary Slater, St. James’ Episcopal Church (hosted by Monna Ayers), and finally, Rick and Barbara Lange. After the concert and snacks at Goodrich Chapel, the audience will hear one of two programs at the Heritage Inn and/or the Conner home. Then there will be a concert at St. James’ followed by a concert at the Lange residence. Each location will have light snacks, fun music, and a lot of socializing!! We are thrilled to have several guest artists. Sarah Shafer, an internationally recognized soprano and her father, Dr. Timothy Shafer (piano professor at Penn State) will delight you with solo piano and vocal selections. Naomi Yamaguchi, a multiple winner of the Albion Piano Festival will travel here to perform her own compositions and classical solos. Dan Willenberg (’13), an Artist-Diploma student at Western Michigan University will provide numerous jazz selections, and David Abbott and Lia Jensen-Abbott, piano faculty and staff at Albion College are slated to perform. The funds raised at this event help to fund cash prizes for the winners of the competition and to cover expenses for the festival. This year, talented students from all over Michigan will again travel to Albion to compete and perform for the public and for the two judges. We currently have students coming from Boston and New York, making November 5-9, 2014 a wonderful educational festival of piano music. Please come and enjoy our Piano Progressive fundraising event!
