Two Great Towns, One Great Community Cookout

In collaboration with the Young Professionals of Albion and Youngish Professionals of Marshall, the Albion-Marshall Resilient Community Project (AMRCP) will be hosting a community cookout at Ketchum Park on Saturday, August 26th, to celebrate our two great towns. The family friendly event will run from 11:00am to 1:30pm, and is open to all.

From the long line-up of grills, hamburgers, hotdogs, and condiments will be provided at no cost. Complimentary water will also be available, in addition to an ice-cream sundae bar of child-dream-like proportions. To further add to the flavor of the event, the event planners are excited to announce they are teaming up with Gina’s Pizza and Deli of Albion, to further fill that belly of yours. Interested in bringing a favorite side dish or featuring a coveted family desert? Please do! With the close of summer fast approaching, it’s time to sneak in as many warm-weather recipes as possible.

In classic cookout fashion, a community kick-ball game will be held to offer up some nostalgic fun for all. If your days of giving the big red playground ball a boot are over, Trout Unlimited will also be present to offer fly casting demos and to share more about the great natural resources within Albion and Marshall. The Young and Youngish Professionals have some other fun surprises up their sleeves too, but you will have to show up to see and experience it for yourself!

If you are able to attend this great event, please register by Thursday, August 24th at amrcp.org/registration/ under the "8/26 - Cookout - Ketchum Park" header (to help the organizers plan ahead for food). Please feel free to come even if you are unable to register, and bring your favorite recipe along to contribute to the AMRCP Community Cookbook that is in the works!

If Albion residents are looking to carpool or in need of a ride, free transportation will be provided by our friends at Albion College. Seating is limited, so please call 1-800-837-5591 to reserve your seat. Pick up will be at the Library (501 S. Superior St., Albion, MI) at 10:30am and the Snyder Building (1300 Cooper St. Albion, MI) at 10:45am.

The AMRCP and YPCs hope to see you on the 26th, hope your bellies are ready to be filled (lunch will be served at noon), and hope you are ready for a carefree afternoon of fun. Again, all are welcome, and please help spread the word!
