Description:
|
The excitement of Albion’s Homecoming festivities continues after the fourth quarter has ended, as the Albion College Concert Choir, Briton Singers, Symphony Orchestra, and Jazz Ensemble come together in performance at 8 p.m. on Saturday, October 21 in Goodrich Chapel for the Music Department’s Homecoming Concert.
Each ensemble brings a unique sound and repertoire to the stage, with just a few of pieces including the Concert Choir’s “Circus Band” by Charles Ives and a traditional Haitian folk melody “Peze Kafé.” Briton Singers offer an exploration through a variety of genres ranging from Renaissance composer Hans Leo Hassler’s “Dixit Maria” to James Taylor’s “Lonesome Road.” The Jazz Ensemble will provide a mix of celebrated jazz composers and styles, while the Symphony Orchestra plays Modest Mussorgsky’s Night on Bald Mountain. To end the evening in true Albion tradition, the Symphony Orchestra and Concert Choir will join together along with alumni to perform “Albion, Dear Albion.”
This concert is free and the public is invited to attend. For more information, contact the Albion College Music Department at 517/629- 0481 or music@albion.edu.
