Description: The Albion College Orchestra journeys through three centuries of music at their concert on Sunday, Feb. 18, at 4 p.m. in Goodrich Chapel. From 19th century Berlioz to modern composer Jonathan Brown (composer for the Jackson Symphony Orchestra), this concert covers vastly different genres from a symphony to a dance.

Under the direction of Albion College's James Ball, the orchestra presents Brahms's Symphony No. 1 and "Hungarian March" from The Damnation of Faust by Hector Berlioz. In addition, the famous solo piano piece Pavane pour une infante défunte—arranged for orchestra by the composer Maurice Ravel himself—is included. Chair of the music department at Spring Arbor University, Jonathan Brown is having his original composition Conversations and Dreams performed featuring some extraordinary percussion highlights. The piece is dedicated to Eric and Stacey Jones, former Albion percussion instructors and known to Brown throughout his time writing pieces for the Jackson Symphony Orchestra.

This concert is free and the public is invited to attend. For more information, contact the Albion College Music Department at 517/629-0481 or music@albion.edu.
