Description:
|
Detroit has a high rate of asthma sufferers, especially among young African- Americans, a healthcare crisis that involves social, economic – and psychological – issues. Psychologist Karen Kolmodin MacDonnell discusses the Detroit Young Adult Asthma Project and its Innovative work Thursday, February 22, at 7 p.m. in the College's Bobbitt Visual Arts Center.
MacDonnell is an associate professor at Wayne State University School of Medicine, where her research involves both developmental and behavioral psychology. MacDonnell will discuss the challenges faced by young adults who have limited access to health care, and her own work designing behavior-based, clinically- tested interventions for this group.
This presentation is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Institute for Healthcare Professions co-directory Bradt Rabquer at brabquer@albion.edu or 517/629-0816.
