The first of Albion's two events honoring the legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr., takes place Monday, January 20, with the annual Day of Dialogue and Service. Keynote speaker Mike Culliver opens the day with a keynote address at 9 a.m. in the downtown Ludington Center, 101 South Superior.
Albion native Mike Culliver has invested his personal and professional time to improve his community and the lives of its younger citizens. Currently the at- risk coordinator for Harrington Elementary School, Mike also worked at Albion High School and the Calhoun County Juvenile Home. A football and track and field athlete at Albion College, Mike has coached football at Marshall High School and worked with Milton Barnes' Playright basketball organization. The former president of Albion- Homer United Way, Mike is a church leader and involved in many other civic organizations.
Following Culliver's presentation, participants can choose among several workshops on specific inclusion/awareness issues (see list below). Lunch and a service project with then both take place at Albion College. Lunch is free but participants are encouraged to RSVP to Albion College's Office of Intercultural Affairs.
