Description:

The coronavirus pandemic turned what would have been the Homer Historical Society's 29th annual Herb Workshop into a rare opportunity for a top-of-the line, professional take-out dinner on Saturday, February 27. When Joe Marciano, the chef at Albion Malleable Brewery, and his wife Kathryn realized that coronavirus restrictions would make it impossible for the Historical Society to hold the 6-hour Herb Workshop complete with brunch, lunch, three speaker and much more for a large group, the couple, who have coordinated and prepared the Herb Workshop's food for the past two years quickly offered to prepare a gourmet take-out dinner with orders available for pick-up between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. at the Food Hub, 112, E. Erie Street in Albion. The menu features a grilled peach and prosciutto salad with shaved parmesan cheese, arugula and aged balsamic. Braised short ribs, roasted garlic smashed potatoes, and sautéed broccoli rabe create an inviting entrée, plus a special dessert featuring bread pudding with caramel sauce. The cost is $25 per single meal or $90 for a family meal that serves four. Advance orders are required and must be made by February 16 by contacting the organization's president Dee Camp using her email drcampers94@gmail.com or by phone at 517-524-7348. She requests that people leave a message if necessary. Checks should be made payable to the Homer Historical Society and mailed to the Homer Historical Society, P.O. Box 146, Homer, MI 49245. Orders will be bagged and ready for pick up on February 27th from 10. a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Food Hum, 112, E. Erie Street in Albion. "This is an exceptional opportunity for people to support the Homer Historical Society's work and have a wonderful meal at a time when all of us have been so negatively impacted by the coronavirus. We really appreciate the support the Marcianos, the community, and all of our members are giving us," Camp said.
